John remembers an interest in photography from the time he first understood what a camera did, and borrowed his parents TLR to photograph pets and garden flowers. He acquired an all-mechanical SLR, a Minolta SRT-101 in high school, took a couple of classes (learning classic B&W film/darkroom techniques, learned to use a tripod and never put the camera down. It is an obsession perhaps, but keeps him out of trouble otherwise.
